The community has become increasingly aware of the importance of reforestation and food fulfillment. Even so, some of them are still hampered by problems with planting land. However, these obstacles can be overcome by utilizing urban farming using hydroponics. Planting with a hydroponic system used to be considered difficult and required a large initial capital. Now, there is a simple hydroponic system using a wick that can be practiced at home even by ordinary people. TDS Meter
Hydroponic plants are very dependent on the presence of complete nutrients dissolved in water. Therefore, the grower is obliged to keep the nutrients available at all times until the plants are ready to be harvested. The level of nutrients in a hydroponic solution can be measured by a TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) meter. This tool functions to measure the total weight of all solids (minerals, salts, or metals) dissolved in a number of volumes of water. The weight of these solids is expressed in milligrams per liter (mg / l) or parts per million (ppm).

Along with the increase in plant growth, once a week the solution concentration was added to 250 ppm. Since leaf vegetables generally spend 40 days in planting, the concentration of the solution at the end of the planting period is 1,500 ppm. To use this TDS Meter, first, remove the protective cap. Second, turn on the TDS meter. Third, immerse the TDS meter in the nutrient solution to its maximum limit (about 2 inches). Fourth, leave it until the numbers on the screen stabilize. After that, press the hold button to stop the measurement so that the number remains read after the TDS meter is lifted. Don’t forget to dry the TDS meter from the remaining solution after use.
